AI Summary
With Santander's acquisition, WBS is now primarily an eventâdriven arbitrage where investors should focus on deal fairness and executionâespecially regulatory approvals, litigation risk, and concentrated-credit exposuresâbecause if the announced cash+ADS consideration closes intact it captures nearâterm value, but protracted legal/regulatory friction or renewed credit stress could materially erode proceeds.
