AI Summary
STLD's strategic pivot from a cyclical steel commodity play to a cashâflowâcentric metals platform (EAF, aluminum, coated flatârolls) materially changes the investment thesisâvaluing it as an industrial growth-and-return story rather than a pure commodity betâprovided new assets hit forecasted economics. Action: require aluminum to reach breakeven and EAF utilization sustainably âĽ80% with quarterly EBITDA reverting to midâcycle levels (and capex staying near the $500â$600m runârate) before treating buybacks/dividends as durable.
